Mr. Parker may be "Fast Willy" but Hop-a-long Heath showed that he's got wheels too!

It wasn't pretty, but a dub-ya's a dub-ya (insert political wise cracks here). After hearing about Big Ben's emergency apendectomy earlier this week, I was a bit worried about the Steelers chances against the Dolphins. Charlie Batch got off to a slow start but did a pretty good job of protecting the ball, with that one glaring exception at the goal line.

The most encouraging thing for Steeler fans was seeing Willie Parker get it going on the ground. Adding to the good news was the fact that the Steelers receiving corps did a great job holding onto the ball after taking a hitâ€”that touchdown catch by Nate Washington was sweet! And of course the defense picked up where they left off last season stuffing the run and rattling quarterbacks.

I'm glad we've got the first one behind us.

The Steelers finally have one for the thumb. I can't wait to get my t-shirt with the Bus showing off the fifth Super Bowl ring. I'm picturing one that looks like the one I had in '81 with Mean Joe Greene.

Geoff, an old friend of mine sent me a pretty good joke. I hope there's some truth in it :) A win is a win in my book and things evened out after all was overturned and fumbled in the Steelers/Colts game. So, I'm sure my fellow Steeler fans will enjoy this and all I can say for those Colt fans is, tough luck.

Peyton Manning, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Colts flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Peyton." said God.

"This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here." Peyton felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3 story mansion with a black and gold sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flag pole with an enormous Steelers flag, and in every window a Terrible Towel.

Peyton looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro quarterback, I hold many NFL records, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said, "So what's your point Peyton?"

"Well, why does Ben Rothlisberger get a better house than me?"

God chuckled, and said, "Peyton, that's not Ben's house, it's mine."

Steelers vs. Colts: Not for the faint of heart

My heart nearly stopped with a little over a minute left in the Steelers/Colts playoff game today. This was the kind of game that put fans of both teams through an emothional rollercoaster ride right up to the last thirty seconds.

I was absolutely thrilled with the first quarter. What a bizarre thing to see a high-octane passing offense from the team that ran the ball more than most, if not all, NFL teams this year. Roethlisberger looked great and I hope that his arm is okay after the shot it took in the third quarter.

About 10 seconds after getting off the phone from a congratulatory call with a friend my Sunday became a dark place. I don't blame the Bus for the turnover?

It's almost football season

Yes, much to Amy's disappointment, it's almost football season. Soon Amy will be battling my 8 hours of cursing on Sunday afternoons and 3 hour on Monday evenings. I may be in the house but I won't really be "present".

Hopefully more Steeler games will be aired when those stinkin' Cowboys and Broncos aren't playing. Unfortunately the Raiders are also big in New Mexico so my chances of seeing the Steelers play are slim to none. I've got a find a Steeler friend with a satellite dish :-)

So, like all Steeler fans, I'm ready for another Super Bowl run. I'm anxious to see if Tommy Maddox and Jerome Bettis have more than one good season left in them. Can the Steelers stop the pass? Do we finally have a consistent place kicker who can kick well at Heinz field? Only time will tell.

I'll be playing fantasy football again this year. Hopefully I can improve upon last years great regular season with a better post season. If you're interested in joining us, drop me a line.
