A new radio station's in town

Favorites:

A brand new radio station recently went on the air in Santa Fe. At first, Amy and I had to check to make sure one of our mix CDs wasn't playing and check to see if the wonderful mix of music was coming from my iPod--but the iPod was not on. Much to our delight the music was coming from 101.5 FM.

KWRP is true, free-form, commercial-free radio. It's a wonderful mix of jazz, country, bluegrass, rock, and alternative artists, in no particular order. It's like listening to all of your friends' music collections, collectively playing on shuffle. The best thing about KWRP is that it is almost commercial-free. The owner is trying a sponsorship advertising model that eliminates commercial bombardment every 4 minutes with a simple "this hour sponsored by" message every hour.

Currently KWRP can be heard only in the Santa Fe and Pecos, New Mexico areas. If you live in the area, tell your friends. Let's do all we can to support truly alternative radio. The Albuquerque Journal ran a nice article about this truly unique radio station.
